Deadlift Form

Sometimes when I do deadlifts, my lower back will hurt as I bend down. In not sure if this means my form isn't right or if the weight is too heavy. I'm also not sure if that's just typical because you're putting strain on your back from holding weights? I try to have good form, I keep my legs bent a little like they show in the videos and I try to keep my back flat with my butt sticking out.
