Daily Check-in: Fitness Friday, November 2nd

Hello Blenders, and Happy Friday (or Saturday)!

How are you all doing today?

I wanted a share a pic with you today of a Lake Effect snow squall we had several days ago, and you can just see the sun setting through the snow! It was both strange and kinda neat, so I hope you don't mind me sharing it with you today!

The snow kinda also ties into today's Fitness Friday question!

So during the summer months, we often had discussions about how to handle workouts in the heat. But now, for a lot of us in the Northern Hemisphere, the weather is beginning to get colder.

So I'm wondering, how does cold weather affect your workouts? Do you do anything differently during the winter months?

For me, I have to do extended warmups. My knees and back like to lock up when it's cold, and it takes a very long time to get my joints feeling mobile. So if there's a warmup included in the video I'm doing for that day, I will sometimes go through it twice, or I'll add in any one of FB's 10 minute low impact warmup/recovery cardio style routines to make sure I'm thoroughly warmed up for my workout. These ones are my favorite to add in (the last one is 6 minutes long, but the rest are about 10 minutes):

I also workout in layers, and use a space heater sometimes, to help keep me warm (I tend to cool off very quickly once I start sweating, so the space heater helps with that in particular).

Another thing I have to be wary of is that I'm drinking enough water before, during, and after my workout. I find that I don't feel as thirsty when it's cooler, so I tend not to drink enough. So I have to be extra conscious of that.

What about you guys? Do the cooler months affect your workouts? Or is just business as usual for you?

And what about workouts for today? Are you working out today, or are you resting?

I'm getting my #WorkoutCompleteForK&D with upper body strength and kickboxing! Yess! I'm so excited!

And we can't forget the food! What's on the menu for you guys today?

I'm craving veggies today. So I'm thinking some kind of a big veggie stir fry or just a big salad. Sounds good to me!
