HIIT + Strength training?

Hi everyone! I have quick question.

I know that I should be doing HIIT workouts max 3 times a week, but does that mean I can't do any other workouts in between while my body is resting?

I was doing one day HIIT, and the other day some strength training, 3 times (So it is 6 days in a row and I would rest on seventh) but I wonder is it too much and will I sabotage my progress?

I've been working out with FB for almost a year and I'm already pretty FIT so I can't really see if this is making some changes on my body so quickly.
