Walking as an Excercise

I wanted to ask if walking (for example in the woods, or uphill) is a good excercise for your legs and overall health. Because on some days i am just way too tired to actually workout hard, so i just go for a walk in the woods. Sometimes i walk 4km, sometimes 10km, depending on how i am feeling and how much time i have.
