A question over form

I just want to be 100% about this.

I know form is important but I've had a hard time trying to measure what that involves, so hear me out.

I just did a workout this morning. And it was okay but a few things troubled me. One - balance was a bit shoddy. Two - I didn't really do the full motion. Three - one side of my body has an easier time of it than the other.

I don't imagine that to be proper form. Would I be right in saying that I choose the weight that doesn't upend my balance, let's me complete the move to the fullest extent and is in line with my weaker side's limitations?

While at the same time giving me a bit of struggle for the last two reps?

That's a lot of trial and error isn't it? 😅

Anyway - just wanted to make sure that my thinking was sound and wanted to get your take.

Many thanks!
