“Queen of plastic”… backbreaking but satisfactory task

What a great nature conservation task today: planting 500 saplings to create a secondary hedge; the wider a hedge is, the better it is for wildlife. The saplings were hawthorne (horrible thorny stuff), dogrose, crab apple trees and hazel. While others planted the saplings, I followed them putting recyclable plastic tubes around them, to protect them against over eager rabbits. Hence my new title Queen of Plastic! Jeepers though, bending over, getting up and down on my knees, and that several hours! But the result is worth it, right?!

I’m definitely going to do this stretch with Erica now.

BTW on Sunday we will be doing a field with three times that amount of saplings to be planted. Maybe some of you would like to join us?
