So, it has been a rough spring, both mentally and physically, but I am ready to get back to regular workouts. I open up my beloved FB programs page and start to peruse. Then it hits me—I am too scared to do the newest TEN routines because they are rated a 4 or 5! My almost 60 yr old body, that has several types are arthritis hanging out, and a three year old knee that has not been the most perfect addition cannot handle that level of intensity. I know that many many people that use fb are not bothered by this, but as I am reading community comments about menopausal joint pain, difficulties with endurance, generalized aches that are exacerbated by these intense workouts, and needing longer recovery times, I wonder if some of these routines are for the trainers than for some of us. I know that there are likely many many people who are excited by these ten new programs, but can there be a bit more balance? I want to have strong muscles, it not if it means I hurt for 3-4days afterwards. And yes, I am aware that I can make modifications, but some of these programs require daily changes, swapping routines and completely changing the entire plan. I come to fb because I don’t have expertise in creating routines and trainers do, but if I am changing routines, am I really benefitting for that expertise?
Just felt the need to share my thoughts and concerns.
Overdo it much??
