Obliques and Back Supersets with Functional Core Cardio Bursts

This is a workout that will take intentionality as we dive into some muscles that live deep within our midsection — the internal and external obliques along with the lumbar extensor muscles that line the spine. All of these muscles are integral in the extension and flexion of the spine as well as bending and twisting movements. 

The workout is set up in a superset format as we trade off between oblique and back-focused exercises, enhancing our core stability throughout. The nature of this workout is intense at times, yet calm. To spice things up, I infused a couple of cardio bursts to increase the heart rate while still focusing on our midsection. The routine calls for no equipment other than a supportive surface to be on for floor exercises. 

As you travel through the exercises focusing on your mind-to-muscle connection, this routine will leave you feeling deeply satisfied! And as you continue to return back to this workout again and again, you’ll begin to notice a “cinched” midsection, better posture, and greater confidence moving through both fitness and everyday exercises.
