HIIT & Cardio - too much?

After completing one of Kelly's HIIT videos, she said not to do HIIT more than 3 times a week otherwise overdoing it could cause negative effects.

Would continuing with one of the cardio videos count towards the factors that lead to the possible negative outcome that doing HIIT too much would cause?

Or would it be ok to encorporate both types of workouts (cardio & HIIT) without that being a concern?

I'm trying to lose weight before my wedding in September but live in an apartment complex and don't feel comfortable going on runs in my neighborhood so I'm trying to get in as much cardio / HIIT as I can at home to help lose some pounds.
