Issues with shins and knees

So I've been working out properly for 2 weeks now! (new record for me and i've started to lose weight :) But i have problems with my shins and knees. I tore a ligament in my knee a few years ago so when exercise I sometimes get a pain in my right knee when trying to run or do higher impact stuff. But also my shins ache horrible when I try running or again higher impact stuff after a while. I want to strengthen these muscles but any idea what could help in the meantime as it's making it harder and harder to keep up with the exercising when I'm in horrible pain. Thank you!
