Question about deadlifts

I have been lifting for a couple years now, and I've been really pushing myself to lift heavier (while keeping good form). With dead lifts I really feel it in my abs. Is that normal or is my form wrong? I only feel it when I lift heavy, but if I lift lighter, I no longer feel it in my legs. I also noticed that lately I have felt it in my abs with squats (which I have been lifting heavier as well).
