Please help?

I am a 52 year old with some back problems due to desk job. I also have two small hernias which are only in the fatty tissue not organ tissue. I have a problem doing some exercises due to not know what will make the hernias worse. 1 is a Umbilical hernia the other is jsut below my breast in the my upper abodoman. Both where from operations. I am currently walking 3 miles 5 days a week and want to add strength training or something to build muscle to also strenthen my back. Can you recommend which program i can do to help me?
