Integration of "extra credit" work outs

I'm curious how folks integrate an extra credit workout into their routine. I see them on several of the programs. Do you complete the program of the day fully (including stretch and cool down) and then do the extra credit ...... or do you stop prior to cool down, slip in the extra credit, and then go back to cool down? Or some other combo?
