Overdoing or good to challenge myself?

Hi,

I just finished FB Complete and it took me 6 weeks instead of 4. I pushed myself hard and did all of the advanced workouts. As a result, i ended up feeling like I needed more rest days. I realize the point of Complete is to adjust your workout level to how you are feeling each day but even the beginner workouts seemed too difficult on some days. My question is: Is it better to push hard and challenge yourself, even if you sideline the next days workout, or is it better to work out at a level that I can maintain with daily consistency?
