Forward vs. Reverse Lunges

I have done many FB programs at this point, and it seems that there is a heavy emphasis on reverse lunges (and curtsy lunges, as another reverse lunge variation) as opposed to forward lunges. Jump lunges (which are sort of a centered movement) are the most notable exception. Anyone know why Kelli and Daniel place so much emphasis on the reverse lunge instead of forward? I know the exercises work slightly different muscles (quads vs. glutes/hams), but it seems to me that if we want to be balanced, doing both types makes sense. I'm considering substituting forward lunges for reverse lunges on occasion and would appreciate others' thoughts on that. Thanks!
