Lunge vs Reverse Lunge

Hey fb family! I've been working out for about 7 months and I'd like to know what's the difference between regular lunges and reverse ones.

It feels that with the reverse lunges I keep more proper form and I really feel my muscles working. On the other hand, with regular lunges I usually lose my balance and I feel more the muscles on the rear leg.

So whenever the workouts have lunges I do the reverse ones, but I'd like to know if they hit different part of the legs than the regular ones.
