Challenging Myself : WO1 (Lower 21/15/9 short version)

Hi everyone ! Hope you're doing well.

Today is the first day of my own challenge and i'm pretty excited about it so I feel great. The sun is here so is my focus. I was ready to sweat a lot and test my legs after a break last week. Here's the report.

Song of the day : Born Depressed by Drill Queen

Strength :

Lunges (both) + single front kick

Squat + side leg raises (both) + calf raises

Step ups (on a coffee table)

Burpees

Deadlifts

Side step ups (on the same coffee table)

3 rounds (21 repetitions then 15 and finally 9 rep)

3 rules : 1/ perfect form or it's a no rep ; 2/ only one set of dumbells for all exercises to maintain the cardio high and challenging the muscles ; 3/ moving as fast as I could.

As I rested a lot last week, not working out, just doing some walks, and as today's workout was pretty intense, heavily taxing the legs, I started with a long warm up ( I'm getting old :D). I felt good during most of the first round. I planned to do side lunges + rear kicks as the last exercise of the round but I struggled too much to keep my balance from the first rep so I did side step ups instead to stay safe and avoid any problem.

By the end of the second round my legs were gone so the third has been a constant fight, even if it was only 9 rep per exercises, I was too tired to push and needed extra breaks just to stretch a bit, mostly my right leg.

Didn't do much on the pilates burnout round. At the start of the inside leg raises, my right leg gave up so i slowly made my way to the cool down, then I just laid on the ground playing with my cat (he loves to bite my mittens after the workout although is never there during it to cheer and support).

Overall

A good day and a good workout. My legs are tired, obviously, and I expect to be very sore tomorrow, which will make the next workout, focusing on core and balance, interesting, to say the least. More importantly I'm in good mood. I'm happy of what I've done, what I am and what I have. That hasn't always been the case, so I'll gladly take that.

Now onto cooking dinner and relaxing for the evening. I'll try to read a bit in my bed before going to sleep. It's been several days since I last opened a book :).

Have a great day !
