Mild Pain in shoulder muscle.

A few days ago I had to cut my strength workout short due to a mild pain in my shoulder muscle, but I don't know if it can be considered a pull because the next day it was gone. And today, doing my strength training it happened again, only this time it's not as painful but it definitely doesn't feel right. Should I take a break? Does my shoulder need resting? I know I'm supposed to listen to my body, but I haven't yet figured what that means yet. Advice is appreciated
