Total Body Workouts vs. Split Workouts

Hi everyone! I've been using FB workouts since 2016, and I have always loved using the total body routines. Recently I have begun to split my workouts into lower and upper body days, so that I can focus better on one part of the body. It also allows me to work out on back-to-back days (legs one day, arms the next for example). Does anyone think or know if splitting the upper and lower body into separate days is better for building strength/endurance over doing total body workouts? I've found that it lets one part of me recover while I work the other, but I also don't want to overtrain. Any thoughts are appreciated!
