Programs Vs self-picking

Hello all, hope you’re staying safe and relatively sane during these crazy times.

I have a general question, purely out of interest really.....

what are people’s thoughts about programs vs picking workouts yourself?

I have only ever picked myself and absolutely love my workouts but am about to start my first program. Do people find programs more or less beneficial and if so how? Any pros and cons of self picking and/or programs?
