Anyone Else Struggle With Hip Raises?

I am a very fit young lady (also no serious health issues or old injuries) and I believe I am doing the Hip Raises correctly, but I still feel very awkward doing them. I even had a particular time when I think I may have pulled a muscle after doing a workout that had a lot of Hip Raises in it. And it is not often that I pull a muscle! I hurt kinda in my back and both sides of my torso. It was a very strange ache I had never had before. Ouchie. I just compromise whenever I am doing a workout that involves Hip Raises. Anyone else having this problem? Is there an easy mistake that can be made when doing Hip Raises?
