Holding dumbells

Hello everyone !

I just wanna know how you are holding your weights during squats and lower body strenght routines. I usually follow Kelli's lower body video and she always put her dumbells in shoulder level to do squats and some other lower body exercice, but I find it more hard for me to do that than doing squats with holding the dumbells beside my thights.

Do you think there is a big difference in how you hold the weights in the final results ?
