WORKING OUT DURING PERIODS FOR WOMEN

I'm doing my fitness blender 8 week challenge fat loss program and it's day 4 today. I did it anyways even though I had my period. I didn't want to skip it and get a lag going on. I could do it without any harm. Is it safe and healthy to workout during periods for women?? Need some feedback. Thank you!
