FB XT and Running...too much on legs??

I know XT was made to paired with something like running, but is it possible to overtrain the legs with lower body/HIIT workouts followed the next day with a run? I am not running far. Two miles right now and the plan is in week four to increase up to three. I took a week of prior to started in this program. The beginning of this week (week 2) was brutal on my legs! It was painful to even walk. I am on the fourth day of the week and they are doing much better but tomorrow is another HIIT workout. I know I can modify to make it easier on my legs but I like to do the harder moves once I get into it.

Any advice some someone who ran on the extra two days?
