Deadlift-Form, back pain- Help?

Hi,

I'm doing FB Burn Round 1 and loving it! My biggest problem: deadlifts. I've had some back and hip issues in the past and while the issues are better, I still feel back strain almost immediately after completing deadlifts. My lower back on the left and right feels so sore that it impacts my ability to do squats with weights or curtsy lunges after I deadlift. I try to keep the weights close to my legs, knees bent, and squeeze when pulling up. I'll admit it seems like I have less of an issue when I use a kettlebell, though. Am I doing something wrong?
