How to use extra credit burns?

So I've always used extra credit burns as a burnout right after the main workout video. Reading through FB Fit R2's, progam guide, however, D&K reccomend completing it 3 hours after the main workout so you can get a second metabolism boost. Would that not require an additional warm up and cool down? Or are the burns usually mild enough you don't need one? Thanks!
