I am facing a big change and was struggling with stepping up to the challenge vs feeling I couldn't do it. One day I thought "instead of berating myself, I need to give myself the gift of encouragement". Now, when I start to doubt myself or don't want to do something, I literally say in my head "give the gift of encouragement". It has helped with everything, including when I want to skip a workout. It's easy, I don't have to try to convince myself or reason. Just the shift to a kind, positive attitude toward myself can make all the difference.
