Tracking weight lifted

Hey everyone. Not sure I chose the appropriate subtopic for this post, but I am wondering how people feel about tracking weight lifted? Do you note how much you lift during a workout? Why or why do you not find this beneficial to your workouts? And if you do keep track, how? For example, do you note it down during the workout or try to remember everything afterwards? I have been going up little by little in weight lifted on some exercises and have been thinking about whether it would be a good idea to track my progress but I also know ability varies from day to day so would not want to feel discouraged if some days I just can't lift as much as I may have previously on the same workout. Thanks!
