Decreasing refined everything

Though I grew up loving fruits and vegetables, I also grew up on refined carbs ... mainly pasta. There was nothing a bowl of homemade egg noodles, Parmesan cheese, milk, and butter couldn’t fix! Thankfully, my tastes grew to where I ditched the milk and butter, opting for spinach, mushrooms, and tomatoes with my noodles instead.

Now, at the age of 32 (almost 33), I am having to wean myself off white pasta. I was seriously addicted at one point 😕 I actually went 2 whole weeks without pasta of any kind back in 2010, and I felt great. Honestly, I didn’t miss it.

I really don’t crave refined carbs in any other form except pasta (sigh). So today, I picked up 100% whole wheat spaghetti, which will be mixed in with lots of veggies and fruit (fresh tomatoes from the garden).

So yes, I’m cutting back on refined carbs! Wish I could say I would never have any again, but I do like the occasional treat (birthday peach pie come September 6th) 😁
