Side hip raises, are they evil?!

does anyone else really really struggle with these? I've been doing FB for quite a while seen real improvements inc my core strength, I can hold a plank for a reasonable time and do plank dips but these i just can not crack.

it's annoying me now!, I am not strong enough to have my legs fully extended (can do maybe 2 or 3 like that) but from my knees i feel like i just tip forward and it feels like i'm not doing anything i can't feel it in my core at all.
