Processed Food??

I'm 19 and my parents buy a lot of processed food like for snacks they but things like Fiber Brownies, granola bars, and crackers like Cheese Its. I usually eat these everyday with my lunch or as a snack. I'm taking a nutrition class and I learned about the harmful chemicals in these foods. I'm now scared shitless of them and what they could do. I told my mom this and she told me that they were "fine" and "normal" ingredients. I already cook my own dinners with real food three days a week but I'm worried about eating these foods. On top of that I'm lactose intolerant. :(
