If your upper body is feeling a little stiff or sore after a harder strength day, this short active recovery routine is a great way to get things moving again without adding more training stress. The first half uses gentle, continuous movement and mobility to bring blood flow to your shoulders, chest, back, and arms, followed by longer stretches on the mat to help you feel more open and relaxed in the second half.
This is an inviting 20-minute routine, and all you need is a mat. Rated a level 2 in difficulty, we intentionally want to focus on restorative movement as opposed to reaching a performance goal. There’s no need to push here (I know that's easier said than done)! You'll adjust your pace and range of motion based on what feels good for your body. I can see this routine having many uses - as active recovery between upper-body workouts, an extended cool down, a movement break after sitting, or simply a gentle way to wind down at the end of the day.
