Hello everyone! I'm on a short staycation at the moment, so I slept a bit later than usual. I'm finding it quite refreshing to have the time off and just do things around here, so here's a thought from Proust : “The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes.” (Marcel Proust) Here's a picture from a local park, where a tree root caught my eye.
For a gardener, of course, having new eyes is easy, everything changes week by week. Today I'll be harvesting St. John's wort blossoms 🏵️ to make a moisturizer. A fellow gardener started using the blossoms after seeing the masses of them I had been growing for pollinators. When I saw him this spring, he had loads of uses to tell me about. I should have written them all down, but the salve was a great idea -- who doesn't get dry, itchy skin in canadian winters? Do you use herbs in your daily life? What's your favorite? Other than this one, my main use of herbs is in cooking and teas, and my favorite, discovered about a year ago, is rosemary🌿 It makes a wonderful tea with hibiscus🌺, that is so refreshing in lemonade on a hot summer day!
Speaking of the heat, I'd better get going. My plan is to start out my day under the mild morning sun before it gets too hot. My planned workout is a light UB strength💪, to be specified. Feel free to recommend me any UB workouts that are particular favorites 😀! I like working the upper body for so many reasons: I feel stronger when I do it, most of the moves are standing and can be done even if it's warm out, there's no impact on my knees. But in this case it's because I want to get all the kinks out before I take on the first day of Erica's Pilates x strength challenge... it looks tough!
Monday at HKS (with added Pals), June 29th🏵️🌿🌺🍹🌞
