Thoughts on creatine or other energy-boosting supplements?

Hi all! I've been working out with FB for little over 10 years (yay!). Just recently my husband has influenced me to try and take creatine before workouts. He says it's supposed to help me lift heavier and perform better. Recently-- I do feel like I need a little something to give me an "oomf" to my workouts. I also want to lift heavier in my workouts as well.

The downside is... I just dont want to gain weight? I have a history of struggling with my body image and strained relationships with food. So I wanted to ask if anyone here has taken/is on creatine or some other workout supplements that help give them that "oomf" during workouts? Or any natural foods that help give you short bursts of energy?
