Been a minute since I've commented here. Been working out on and off with the Fitness Blender family for many years.
Thought to share something that may resonate with others here.
When I started doing these workouts and for many years after, my mindset was very much working against me. I would schedule workout programs and then feel like a failure when I wasn't able to do the workouts exactly as planned. Because of this, it was rare that I would complete a program and therefore felt like I couldn't accomplish my fitness goals.
But things have changed! Over the past few years, I have worked very hard to rewire my internal messaging. Injuries, aging, and a cross country move put me in a position where I had to assess my energy daily and figure out what types of movement suited my energy level on any given day. I've made movement a near daily practice over the last three years.
I am doing Erica's strength + pilates challenge this week. I started on Sunday, then felt pretty low energy on Monday so postponed. On Tuesday I went to PT for a shoulder injury, so I didn't do Day 2 yesterday either as I didn't want to push two upper body mobility/workouts on the same day.
I completed day 2 today, and I realized that I don't feel guilty or like I've failed my fitness goals. I'm just living my life and going through the ups and downs that come with it.
It took a very long time to drop the guilt that was not serving me. While it may not seem like a big thing to some others, it's a very big accomplishment for me and I am proud of it 🥰
