We have all at some time or another experienced a day where things don’t exactly go as planned. Sometimes that schedule you carefully crafted days, weeks, or even months in advance gets kicked off course before you even get out of bed. Sometimes it is the moment before you finally get to the part of the day where you scheduled some time for yourself. And sometimes you have been flying without so much as a scrap of a plan that you forgot how planning works. All this to say: sometimes life does not fall in front of us as we would hope, and we find ourselves having to make changes and sacrifices to stay on track. Hey, that’s life—always unpredictable. And unfortunately, the things that seem to get cut first are our own self-care routines. Those unpredictable days are why I have created this and other express workouts. That way, when life challenges your plan, you can respond with a “better than nothing” approach.
This 16-minute lower body workout is definitely that: a fun, challenging, and quick “better than nothing” workout. In this routine, we will be targeting the major muscles in the lower body just like we would in a traditional lower body workout—but we will be cutting it down to just one set per exercise with a minimal warm-up and cooldown. Similar to other express workouts, each movement incorporates multiple positions that target the same muscles so you get even more out of each set. This also means that you will want to do a quick scan of the routine before trying it for the first time so you know roughly what amount of weight you should be using.
So, whether you need to save time with this workout or you are just looking to go a bit lighter in preparation for a bigger, more intense workout tomorrow, this workout will not disappoint.
