HKS (Healthy, Kind Support) Accountability Group May 2nd

Good first Saturday in May. Sending positive thoughts and strength to everyone who needs it at the moment. May this month bring some joy and relief.

David received some great news at his second appointment yesterday for his diabetes and hypertension. His blood pressure is now in the normal range with the help of medicine, and the reports from his continuous blood sugar monitor shows that he is in target range 98% of the time. The nurse practitioner was really impressed and she hopes that this will mean a significant drop in his A1C number when he gets tested again in June. They checked his feet and all is well there too. So she told him to just keep doing what he is doing, because it’s working well and she’s thrilled with his improvements. And he’s lost weight as well, so he’s on the right track.

But after hearing such great news, he went and ate an awful lunch and had beer after work 🤦‍♀️ I told him to be careful not to slide back into old habits, as from my own experience, when we achieve successes, it’s easy to « take a day off », which turns into two, which turns into going back to bad patterns. It’s like you feel safe because of your successes and you slack off.

I have just hit a 10-pound loss so far this year. It’s going slowly, but I can hope surely. I finished the Strong Runner challenge today with a great lower body workout from Nicole. I really enjoyed this challenge and favourited a few workouts. Of course I didn’t do the running part, and there were a few too many days in a row of lower body work, but it was a great challenge. I’ll just do a stretching workout today and we’ll go for a walk. I finally hit the 30km mark in a month in April, and I managed an average of 8563 steps per day. The goal is to increase the kilometres this month and complete another 2-week challenge.

What have you planned for this weekend? David and I will put together the display for our sweet Loki, as the display box was just delivered yesterday. And then we’ll catch up on series, and it’s his turn to choose a movie tonight.

Wishing everyone a great day 🙂
