Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about balance. Not the kind where everything is perfectly even, but the kind where you learn to keep moving while carrying a lot at once. Family, work, school, responsibilities at home, relationships, and trying to care for yourself in the middle of it all can feel like a constant juggling act. Some seasons feel manageable, and others can feel like everything is demanding your attention at the same time. All while drinking enough water, eating enough protein, and getting your daily fiber in!
I know many of you can relate. There are times when the to-do list is long before the day even begins, and by the time evening comes around, there’s barely enough energy left for yourself. In those moments, physical, mental, and emotional well-being can easily slide to the bottom of the priority list.
What I’ve learned is that wellness during busy seasons often looks different than we expect. It may not be an hour-long workout, a perfectly planned meal, or a peaceful morning routine. Sometimes it looks like a 15-minute walk between meetings, lunges while dinner cooks, taking a few deep breaths in the car before walking inside, or choosing to go to bed earlier instead of trying to squeeze in one more task.
One of the biggest mindset shifts for me has been letting go of the idea that balance means doing everything equally well at all times. Real balance is seasonal. Some weeks family needs more. Some weeks work does. Some weeks your own recovery has to come first. It doesn’t mean you’re failing in other areas; it means you’re responding to what matters most in the moment.
And if I’m being honest, I live this too. There are some days when I binge-watch for an embarrassing amount of time, and other days I feel like I’m moving nonstop for 14 hours straight. Most of life happens somewhere in between. That’s why I’ve learned to stop chasing perfect balance and start appreciating small adjustments that help me keep going.
If you’re in a busy season right now, I hope you give yourself credit for all the unseen ways you’re showing up each day! Managing multiple responsibilities takes energy, resilience, and patience. You don't need perfection, just something that's sustainable.
