Creator Check-In: Embracing Summer Chaos and Why I’m Making Time for Movement

Hello friends! How are we doing? How's your summer been?? Are you over the heat yet, or are you still soaking up these long summer days? And most importantly, what's everyone watching right now? (House of Dragons, anyone?)

I just wanted to hop on here, check in, and give you a little update on life lately. If I had to describe my summer in one word, it would probably be chaotic.

First of all, it’s HOT. Muggy, buggy, sticky, and all the things. I’ve developed a deep appreciation for air conditioning (especially my garage A/C), bug spray, frizz control spray, and deodorant. Despite all that, I'm still loving the longer days, those 8:30–9:00 sunsets, and having more opportunities to spend time with family.

So what have I been up to?

We kicked off the summer with our first kid-free trip in years, a few days in Amelia Island. My husband and I joked that we didn't even know what to do with all that free time (so much time for activities!). Since then, it's been a whirlwind: pool parties, beach days, visits to the zoo, movie nights, game nights, drawing competitions, building elaborate cat forts, and spending time with friends and family (and of course, work and chores on the daily).  We're also getting ready for a mountain vacation in a few weeks, which I'm really looking forward to because it will be Wendy's first road trip with the fam. It's been a full summer in the best possible way, but it also hasn't left me with as much time to create and share workouts as I'd like.

Summer, at least in our house, is basically controlled chaos. Routine? Never heard of her. One day blends into the next, and somehow everyone needs something, ALL THE TIME. If I have to hear the word snack one more time...

Anyway, as someone who thrives on routine, it definitely throws me off and if I'm being honest, I don’t want to make any more decisions!

Through all of it, I've had to keep reminding myself to carve out time to move my body. Because if I don't, my cronies (and I) will feel it. Not every workout is my hardest or “best”. Some days, I only have the energy for a walk or some cycling. And then some days I have the energy for a real kick-booty strength sesh. Whatever it looks like that day, making that time for myself helps me show up better for everyone else.

I used to feel guilty about taking time for myself, but I've realized it's one of the least selfish things I can do. Moving my body makes me a better person, a better wife, and a better mom. It fills my cup so I can be more present for the people I love.

That's exactly why I'm so excited about our upcoming FB program.

The team and I have put together something I think is going to be really special: 30 days of workouts, each just 30 minutes long.

One of my favorite things about this program is how simple it is. You don't have to decide what workout to do or wonder if you're balancing your training. We've already done all of that for you. Every workout is planned out, so all you have to do is press play, get in an effective 30-minute workout, and get back to your busy life.

If you're in a season where it feels like you're making decisions for everyone else all day long, I hope this program can take one thing off your plate, and help you make a little time for yourself.

Let me know how you are doing! I truly love hearing from you all. If you have any amazing show suggestions, send em my way!
