HKS (Healthy, Kind Support) Accountability Group April 11th
A little after midnight, we had to make the heart wrenching decision to let our little Loki go. He came home briefly on Friday but when he coughed, he aspirated more liquid into his lungs and he was struggling to breathe. After a couple of hours at the clinic, the vet asked us to come in and she explained that he had very little chance to make it.
We held him in our arms for a while, petting him, giving him kisses, telling him he was the best boy. It was so sad to see him in this condition, breathing so hard, when he was full of life just a week ago. David held him and I pet him while he crossed the rainbow bridge. We stayed with him in our arms for a while afterwards.
Back home, David and I went through our camera rolls to look at all of the photos and videos that we took of him. The photo above was the very first one that David took when he brought him home as a tiny puppy. I was working that day and that’s the very first glimpse I had of our Loki, when he texted me that photo. He was the very first pet that I had and he brought us so much joy over 14 and a half years. I greatly miss his presence in our bed tonight. I don’t know if I’ll be able to sleep. If you have a pet, please hug them for me.
