Express Lower Body Active Recovery

This is a short, feel-good lower body routine that I designed with active recovery in mind (although there can be so many more uses for it!). It's perfect to do a day or so after a heavy leg day, or anytime you’re feeling stiff, slow, or stagnant. We keep your muscles gently moving, bringing new blood flow back in, and helping your body feel loosened up, energized, and refreshed.

It's a 20-minute session with no warm-up or cool down needed. You’ll start with 10 minutes of very low-intensity cardio and mobility to lightly raise your heart rate and ease tension (while sneakily improving balance), then finish with 10 minutes of floor-based stretching that covers the low back all the way to the ankles. You only need a mat! With its gentle nature all the way through, this is a level 2 workout, with plenty of room to adjust movements so your body gets exactly what it needs.
