New! Mental Health Focus: Guided Relaxation

Each week of the FB Momentum program has a different mental health focus! The focus for Week #4 is: Relaxation

Hello FB family! This week's mental health focus is surrounding relaxation. For the practice, I have included a guided relaxation practice, which is great anytime, but particularly when you are stressed. However, I also want to encourage you all to consider how to use aspects of this (and other) relaxation practice during your workouts. This week the intensity ramps up and finding ways to more effectively bring your body down during breaks might be key to keeping you going longer! So, think about breathing techniques (this one includes box breathing), mindfulness, positive self-talk, and more to help bring yourself back down after periods of high intensity.

I personally love to take a moment to intentionally search for that good feeling during breaks. Even when my heart is racing, I'm sweating, and maybe even my lungs are screaming at me, I can still find a reason to feel "good" in that moment. Maybe it is gratitude that I'm able to push my body in this way. Maybe it is a slight endorphin rush from the cardio. Perhaps it is feeling strong because I just hit a PR. Sometimes it is easier or harder to find, but the positive is always there if you're looking for it. This process helps to calm my body and mind and improves my overall mental wellbeing.
