Alina is off on a work trip, so we've got a substitute teacher today.
The big news here is that social media is getting banned for under-16s tomorrow. This new policy seems to be very popular with adults and very unpopular with under-16s. And extremely unpopular with the billionaires who run social media. The idea is social media feeds kids stuff that is bad for them - eating disorders, misinformation, grooming, bullying - and kids should be protected from it. The kids say it's offensive to kick them off the internet so why don't they instead focus on making sure the content is safe, and also what do a bunch of old farts know about kids' social media use when none of them (us) had it growing up? Fair points. The PM acknowledged it's difficult to enforce, but likened it to banning alcohol for kids - just because it's possible for them to get access doesn't mean it is safe or should be legal. Me personally, I'd go a step further and say (most) social media is bad for adults too. I realise I am saying this on a form of social media - pretty sure this FB is not getting banned, but the other FB definitely is. Thoughts?
In other news, I discovered last night that melatonin can cause restless leg syndrome. And in my case, also restless arm and restless torso. I wanted to crawl out of my skin. The reason I took the melatonin is because the Lexapro taper has been giving me real bad insomnia. I don't usually have RLS, but the few times I have experienced it were also related to changing Lexapro doses. (Or maybe it was akathisia, which is like RLS but way more serious, and also associated with psychiatric drugs.) So if Lexapro causes RLS or whatever that was, and Lexapro causes insomnia, and the treatment for insomnia also causes the same thing...I guess I will have to get used to sleep deprivation, cos I ain't never doing that again. Thank god it went away.
I think I will do some stretching tonight. Was thinking about adding in some core work too, but not feeling energetic enough for that. Dinner was supposed to be lamb curry, but after all the rich and sugary food of the past couple weeks, I have a serious craving for leafy greens. Salad it is.
