Hello FB family! What signals that we need to set goals? Well, sometimes we know because we just finished or accomplished a prior goal. Sometimes we are feeling aimless and need some sort of direction. Other times we might be struggling with motivation. Still yet we might have a very particular outcome we are working toward. Regardless of the reason, goal setting is something that is particularly helpful for a number of reasons.
Goals help us to stay motivated, have a plan to follow, track our progress toward the goal, and know when to celebrate (arguably one of the more important parts of goal monitoring). However, goal setting itself can be intimidating if we don't know what to do. A lot of us are never taught this skill and then struggle to set goals that we can stick to. So as part of the FB Momentum program, we wanted to start off with goal setting! This video outlines three resarch-backed strategies that you can use to help you set goals — both now in this program and beyond. This is a great video to consult at key transition points (new year, after finishing a previous goal, etc.) and also periodically throughout the year. Goal setting can be difficult to do, but also has a huge payoff in the end.
