Hello, folks, and Happy Tuesday! Hope everyone is doing well. I did the first day of Shift today after deciding yesterday was too Monday for it. The workout was a lower body strength superset with Nicole and wow, I'd forgotten about my inner thigh muscles. They are conversing with me.
I finished Jane Eyre. To be honest, I don't know what I think. The only thing I know for sure is that I hated St John and his gaslighting ways and I was glad that the book ends with news of his impending death. The way he wouldn't take "no" for an answer and tried to guilt trip Jane into marrying him and going with him to India, knowing it would make her miserable and kill her, was too real. The entire chapter made me viscerally uncomfortable and angry. People can debate about Rochester as much as they want, to me St John is the real villain.
Speaking of classic literature, I watched the new Frankenstein adaptation and really loved it. The changes that were made really enhanced the story in my opinion. Elizabeth is an actual character and a much needed foil to Victor. There's also a focus on cycles of parental abuse which was implied in the novel but is made much more explicit in the film. I loved the costumes and the Creature design and all the actors brought their A game. I really want red leather gloves now.
