Hello everyone, it's a snowy Monday here. Very November-forest vibe -- bright leaves mixed with white on the ground. The sidewalks are clear, probably because the snow was mixed with rain and the rest melted. So I might go to the office after all.
But first, I'll do my workout for Day 29 of Shift. It's another new-to-me workout, lower-body strength, which I couldn't do for the longest time. I'll be careful and make sure I'm supporting my lower back. And I'll try not to scrunch up my face, I've noticed that when I work out I tend to hold my mouth very tightly, not even "Elvis lip", just extra tension. So here's today's thought, on smiling as yoga.
"Why should I smile when there is no joy in me? The answer to that is: Smiling is a practice. There are over three hundred muscles in your face. When you are angry or fearful, these muscles tense up. The tension in these muscles creates a feeling of hardness. If you know how to breathe in and produce a smile, however, the tension will disappear β it is what I call βmouth yoga.β Make smiling an exercise. Just breathe in and smile β the tension will disappear and you will feel much better." (Thich Nat Hanh)
Hope everyone has a wonderful day. Give the easiest yoga a try!
