Friday PPals 3 October πŸ˜ΊπŸ•΅πŸ½πŸš€πŸ₯¬πŸ¦”

Hello folks, and welcome to Friday. Any big, exciting, or infuriating plans on the radar for you? Same ol' same ol'? Activities derailed by government shutdowns? It was a beautiful day here, the government continues to function, and the forecast says it will be sunny and warm again tomorrow. Sunday we spring forward with the clocks, which a lot of people seem to complain about, but I love the long evenings. It won't get dark until 7:30! The forecast also says Sunday will be 27 (warmest day so far this season) and raining.

Did you know there is a relationship between your gut bugs and ability to sleep? I didn't until I saw a BBC article on it last week. Google says I should "eat more mindfully" and that my gut will feel better if I get more sleep. Thank you for that helpful advice, internet. I think I want a gut bug transplant, and I've stopped caring if the delivery method is gross. Gimme them healthy microbiota. I finally got a really solid night's sleep last night, and my goodness do I feel better. Pip, on the other hand, is upset that she could not stay out playing all night. She had to come inside and go to bed too. Today she expressed her disapproval by knocking a flower pot off a window sill and smashing it, and then when I put her outside for a time out by standing on her hind legs to attack my iris. The one on the right used to have a few more petals.

Just finished my workout, which were 2 (main + add-on) "easy" bodyweight level 3s with Kelli. I used to do these, plus a 3rd one, when I wanted a light cardio day. Was getting frustrated partway through about how little it takes these days to make me sore, but then got to thinking. A year ago I could not do these workouts, and was only just regaining the ability to go for a short, slow walk on non-consecutive days because of my necrotic femur. 2 years ago I could hardly walk around the house, also due to necrotic femur but also from some seriously nasty long covid. 3 years ago I was just recovering from a mysteriously busted up foot (less mysterious in light of the Lexapro situation) that also left me unable to walk much or do most exercise. 4 years of near immobility really does a number on your muscles, fitness, and general well-being. But now I can do some bodyweight workouts! In the last 4 days, I've had two good bodyweight workouts and gone for 2 walks with 6000+ steps; one of those involved carrying groceries, which are heavy. It's not HIIT, strength training, running, or backpacking in the mountains, but that's still more than I've been able to do in a long, long time. Congratulations to me!

Leftover chicken and veg for din dins tonight. The chicken is cooked in a cream sauce and has fun things like sundried tomatoes and a bunch of herbs in it. Feeling tired so hope the kids agree to go to bed early. Max usually turns into a gremlin (lil gremmy) between about 8 and 11, so I may have to wait.

Any challenges you would like to reframe? Maybe that sort of positivity makes you want to puke and a rant would be more suitable. Come tell us about your day, regardless. Workouts, food, cat pics, general chit chat, you know the drill.
