New 5-Day Challenge! Daily Affirmations

This daily affirmations challenge comes straight from a community request for more affirmations. But this request got me thinking — we could all use a few words of encouragement and affirmation on a daily basis. Even if you don't get it from other people (I sure hope you do!), you can provide it to yourself by cultivating an awareness of what affirmations you might need at any given time. Therefore, I created 5 days of affirmations with 5 different focus areas: fitness, food/eating, body image, work, and general wellbeing. I hope you can pick and choose what works for you and increase your awareness of how affirmations impact your mindset.

Daily Affirmations Challenge

What are affirmations?
Affirmations are statements about oneself that are repeated, often aloud, and which help to maintain a positive and/or empowered mindset about yourself.

How do they help?
Affirmations are helpful if regularly practiced and the individual believes they will work; skeptics are less likely to find them helpful. Research shows that participants who engaged in spontaneous self-affirmations had greater levels of approach coping and greater sense of meaning and purpose, and increases in positive affect (Sharouni et al., 2021).

Affirmations tend to improve many mental wellness outcomes including our mood in the moment, self-esteem, academic/work performance, health-promoting behaviors, stress/resilience, focus and productivity, and relationships. Primarily, affirmations allow us to reframe self-limiting beliefs about oneself through intentionally engaging with thoughts that motivate us to enhance our wellbeing.

In the comments below, let me know which affirmations spoke to you personally throughout this 5 day challenge. Want to see more?
