I thought I would reach out to see if anyone might have any idea, suggestion or just some pep talk until someday I might be able to move and workout again.
But let me start at the beginning. (My apologies to all who heard this story already over and over again). In January I injured my lower back in a dance workshop so badly that I was forced from going 180 down to zero. I couldn't walk at all. I couldn't even get to the bathroom without being in total agony. I damaged a disc which affects my walking and even now I'm struggling immensely to walk pain free after four months mainly forced to sit on the couch and do nothing except for waiting. For someone like me who is always on her feet running around and gets easily to 15000 steps each day and loving my HIIT intense workouts it is just devastating.
My husband and I we are passionate Swing dancers and through my injury we had to cancel so many dance events and workshops which we were so looking forward to😞
In the beginning I lost some weight but that was only muscle mass and then started the weight gain. No muscle mass unfortunately. I'm currently replacing my entire wardrobe because I'm over an entire size bigger now. Very frustrating and expensive. My calorie expenditure dropped so dramatically that it is hard to adjust my eating behaviour to so little food. Particularly considering that I now have almost two hours extra which I have to fill with something that is not moving. I normally did an hour of FB workouts and also a walk at the beach. And the restlessness and boredom drives me crazy. Constantly asking someone to do something for me, which I can't do is driving me mad.
By now I learned how much I can move before my back starts giving up again and I had quite a successful week. I managed six days in a row with over 5000 steps and my back is doing fine. However, I still can't do both Physio and walking around. My back isn't strong enough yet. That means I have to plan each trip outside the house. For example I have a work event tomorrow in the city but I couldn't figure out how the parking situation will be, so that my husband will drop and collect me, to make sure I don't have to walk unexpectedly too much. It is a big loss of independence and freedom.
I would love to change something but I just can't think of anything that could be even close to cardio.
If anyone has similar experiences or any ideas what I could try or do please share.
