Perspiration Pals 30 April 2025

Hi there, Pals! How are you today? Wednesday is the new Friday, at least for us here. Long weekend! Yaay! I’m trying not to be too excited because more often than not, something ruins my holidays but at least I will be able sleep in. I can’t believe how much priority sleep has taken in my life. 😊 I work out early in the morning but I’m definitely not an early bird. Or a night owl…

For the first time in years, I’ve started scheduling my own routines but it won’t take long before I get back to a program or a challenge. I know myself… This morning, I did a kickboxing+lower body routine with Daniel because I haven’t worked out with him for ages

Moving on to our fact-finder fragment. I started reading a book about plants (I also started hording house plants so…) and there was this experiment with a plant called Mimosa pudica (I've always wanted to have one) which I found sweet, interesting and funny. So back in the 19th century, Lamarck (French scientist) told one of his assistants to take mimosa plants for a long tour of Paris by carriage to monitor their behaviour. The plants obviously closed their leaves upon the first vibrations of the carriage, however, as he continued the tour, they began to open their leaves even though the vibrations of the carriage continued. The plants basically got used to it. In 2013 the experiment was sort of reenacted. The plants were subjected to repeated ‘falls’ and obviously, they reacted by closing their leaves. After a while they thought, this is silly, I’m not going to close my leaves because nothing will happen. Then the poor plants were shaken a bit (horizontally) to which they reacted immediately. What’s even more interesting is the fact that the plants ‘remembered’ the harmless stimuli!

All right, I’ll stop stimulating you now and get back to work. Have an easy day!

PS, I got a sprouting jar so I have a new hobby. 😊
